This morning, Roulette (Potter County Dept 46) was dispatched to the Sartwell Creek Road approximately 2 miles from Route 6 for a vehicle accident with injuries. 5 minutes after the intial dispatch, the Star Hose Company was dispatched to assist.  Rescue 38 (Chief T. Roys) and Engine 32 (FF Benson) responded within one minute with 8 firemen.  Chief 3 (Ernst) arrived just ahead of Ambulance 46-7, established "Sartwell Creek Command" and reported a pick up truck over the embankment and 1 male patient partially ejected.

Rescue 38 and the Engine were the first arriving rescue units and immediately went to work stabilizing the vehicle with the "same side, opposing forces" technique, then began assessing the patient.  Finding severe thoracic trauma, Command requested a medical helicopter.  Crews from Station 3 and Department 46 worked together to remove the patient from the truck, then up the steep bank to the awaiting ambulance.  Due to an extended ETA, the helicopter was diverted to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital.  Units from 3 and 46 picked up and were back in service within an hour.

Units on Scene:  Engines 32, 46-1;  Rescue 38;  Utility 34;  Ambulances 46-7, MA-3
Command:  Chief 3 (Ernst)
