Monday evening at the start of the weekly training, Cal Smith of Smith's Fire Service of Eldred, PA delivered 17 new Scott AirPak 75's to the Port Allegany Fire Department. They replace our Scott Fifty AirPak's, which are in their 10th year of use. This new equipment also includes many upgrades, such as improved PASS devices, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) compliant regulators and facepieces, and 4500 psi cylinders (opposed to the 2216 psi cylinders previously used). All members who were unable to attend training on Monday night are urged to stop by the station and familiarize themselves with the new equipment prior to their in-service date, which is expected to be this upcoming Monday. The Officers and Members of the Star Hose Company No. 1 would like to thank Cal for his prompt service. We've come to expect nothing less from all the fine people at Smith's Fire Service.
