After a full day of training at the Canoe Place Inn, the Star Hose Company No. 1 was called to service when they were dispatched for a wildfire on Coleman Mills Road, about 2 miles past Boyer Crossing. All 3 Chiefs, along with Utility 34 (Lt. A. Johnson) and Engine 33 (Capt. A. Johnson) went en route and were advised of a 2-3 acre wildfire, endangering a building.
Chief 320 (T. Roys) was the first to arrive, and reported a grass field with about an acre involved and not endangering any buildings. The rest of the units arrived and went to work with rakes and "Indian Cans" to extinguish the fire. All units from Station 3 returned within 20 minutes.
In less than 15 minutes after backing the apparatus in to quarters, McKean County 911 dispatched Station 3 for another wildfire in Liberty Township, this time at 150 East Cutler Road. Chief 3 (Ernst) and Utility 34 (Chief T. Roys) were back on the street immediately, followed only seconds later by Engine 33 (Lt. A. Johnson) and Tanker 35 (FF D. Hobbs). Chief 3 arrived and established command, reporting a small brush fire away from the residence. The Utility and the Engine arrived and stretched small lines to control the slow moving fire. After a little mop-up, units returned again at 1632 hrs.
