This evening at 1738 hours, just as firefighters were opening the Fire Hall for the weekly Bingo game, the house alarm sounded as The Star Hose Company was dispatched to the area of Route 155 South and Plumbers Road, just north of the village of Liberty. Chief 3 (Ernst) and Chief 310 (F. Roys) responded immediately, followed by Rescue 38 (Capt. Al Johnson) and Engine 32 (Lt. Andy Johnson) with 12 firefighters. Units were advised of the reports that McKean County 911 had recieved of one vehicle on its side and in the ditch. One passenger was reported to be in the vehicle and complaining of hip and upper leg pain.
After the long trip (nearly 10 miles) to the scene, Chief 3 arrived, established Route 155 Command and confirmed the dispatch information. Chief 310 immediately began patient assessment as Rescue 38 arrived, stabilized the vehicle and provided for access to the patient. With Star Hose Company EMTs attending to the patients needs, the Rescue Company removed the vehicle's roof. The patient was then packaged and placed in the care of Port Area Ambulance Service. All apparatus was back in service within an hour.
