Just after 0100hrs this morning the Star Hose Company firefighters found themselves on their way to Platt Street in Eldred Boro for yet another working fire at a fire station. Just three months ago the Eldred Boro Fire Department suffered a fire at their secondary fire station, followed only weeks later by a fire at the Eldred Township Volunteer Fire Department's secondary station. This morning, Box 0413 went out for an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Eldred Boro Fire Department main station. Chief 4 (Cummings) arrived on scene and quickly reported smoke in the structure and a fire in the social room.
Engine 32 (Lt. Al Johnson) responded just after the dispatch, followed by Engine 33 (FF Andrew Johnson) bringing 9 Star Hose Co. firefighters to the scene on the first alarm. Crews from Station 4 (Eldred Boro) worked quickly to remove all apparatus from the station and get a knock on the fire. While approaching the scene, both Engines were ordered to send manpower to the scene to assist with overhaul. Units from Station 3 operated for about an hour before returning to service.
Units on Scene: Engines 41, 42, 32, 33, 91, 182
Command: Chief 4 (Cummings)
