Station 3 Works Hard on a Hot Day

On July 6th at 1122hrs, The Day Crew was dispatched on Box 1221 for a house fire in the area of 80 White Hollow Road.  The alarm initially called for Engine 32 (Capt. Al Johnson) to transfer to Station 2 (Smethport) for stand by.  After several units failed to respond on the second alarm, Chief 12 (Gallup) requested they upgrade to the scene, along with Tanker 35.

Firefighter Benson Injured in Crash

While commuting to work this morning, Firefighter Caleb Benson was involved in a vehicle accident and pinned in his vehicle.  Fire and EMS crews arrived and extricated Caleb, then transported him to a local hospital.  He was assessed, then transported by ground to Altoona Regional Health System: Trauma Center, where he was scheduled to have an operation to repair a badly broken leg. 

All of the Members of the Star Hose Company No. 1 wish Caleb a speedy recovery and are remaining in constant thought and prayer for our Brother.  We would also like to thank the Fire and EMS crews which provided care at the accident this morning.

UPDATE:  Firefighter Benson is now home and recovering from his injuries.  We continue to wish him a speedy recovery.

 
Rescue and Engine on Mutual Aid Crash

This morning, Roulette (Potter County Dept 46) was dispatched to the Sartwell Creek Road approximately 2 miles from Route 6 for a vehicle accident with injuries. 5 minutes after the intial dispatch, the Star Hose Company was dispatched to assist.  Rescue 38 (Chief T. Roys) and Engine 32 (FF Benson) responded within one minute with 8 firemen.  Chief 3 (Ernst) arrived just ahead of Ambulance 46-7, established "Sartwell Creek Command" and reported a pick up truck over the embankment and 1 male patient partially ejected.

Congratulations to Captain Mike Johnson and Family

On May 22nd at 1530hrs, Captain Mike Johnson and his wife Katie brought their first daughter into the world.  Mallory Kate Johnson weighed in at 6 lbs. 6 oz. and 20 inches long.  Mallory, Mom and Dad are all doing well.  Congrats Mike and Katie!
 
Early morning crash on 155

The Star Hose Company was back on the road early this morning when McKean County 911 dispatched units to a motor vehicle accident in front of 3236 Route 155 North of Port Allegany at 0549hrs.  Chief 310 (F. Roys) responded at the time of dispatch followed closely by Rescue 38 (Lt. L. Johnson) and Engine 32 (Capt. Al Johnson) with 7 firefighters.  Chief 310 arrived and reported a pick up in the yard of the address and one patient still inside the vehicle.  The Rescue arrived and quickly stabilized the vehicle while the Engine crew began assessing the patient.  It was determined that the patient was not injured and units began picking up.  All Station 3 units were back in service shortly.

Not a Drill at the Canoe Place

The old Canoe Place building has become quite familiar to the firefighters of the Star Hose Company No. 1 over the past month, while one training session after another was held in the building prior to its eventual demolition.  Last night the Port Allegany Fire Department was back at the former restaurant and hotel, but this time it was no drill at all.  Station 3 and Ambulance 3 were dispatched for a "Possible Structure Fire" at 2241hrs.  Chief 320 (T. Roys) arrived on scene immediately after dispatch and reported a working structure fire.
